The "Ranch" is thought of as a rambling One Story style of house plan. Garages are usually located on the side of the house with a side entry helping to create the elongated look. Even modest square footage homes take on an oversized feel due to this feature. Changes in building lot sizes over the years has limited the number of true ranch plans that are being designed. To that end, the term ranch was redefined and has come to mean One Story. Our "Ranch" collection now contains many "Courtyard" style house plans where the garage is pulled from the side of the house and is place in the front. This "L-Shape" helps the One Story floor plan fit on a narrower lot.
You will find both styles of floor plan in our Ranch collection.
